It’s Okay to be Confused
First off, many thanks to the folks who’ve continued to interact, despite my absence. I’ve had quite a hectic summer, but overall things are going well.
Plentiful freelance work kept me on the road for months. Most of it was working inside retail stores, changing over the layouts and products. It was sweet while it lasted. A week or two in a different city, put up in a hotel by the company, new area to explore. I played at least 20 new disc golf courses around the Midwest, and even returned to a couple favorites from back in my traveling, tournament days.
My travel itch got scratched, plus it got me some distance from one of my part-time jobs. I didn’t really want to go back to food service, even with a promotion. It was a good fit at the right time, but it ran its course.
So did my other part-time job, which I quit back in July. The 3rd, to be exact. That was the day I found out my manager was taking a demotion, which bummed me out immensely. Also the day the new manager decided to come at me with a long critique of the shift I had worked that day. Apparently she thought I had the same amount of loyalty towards her, which was not the case at all. Easy one to walk away from, as if I wanted to work the 4th of July. Saddening, because I did love that job, but that was the second store where a new manager swept in and neither situation suited me.
